Supporting Educational and Career Goals for Ambassadors and Their Families

The Martis Camp Foundation believes that investing in people strengthens our entire community. Through the Ambassador Scholarship Program, the Foundation supports the education and growth of Martis Camp Ambassadors and their families.

Thanks to the generosity of Martis Camp Members, Ambassador Scholarships help create pathways to opportunity, from early childhood education to college degrees and professional development.

These scholarships are more than financial support; they are an investment in people, potential and the long-term strength of our community.

The Martis Camp Foundation is proud to support eligible Martis Camp Ambassadors and their children or legal dependents as they pursue educational and career goals. The program provides funding for a variety of educational opportunities, from professional development and tutoring to PreK–12, college and graduate education.

Important: Plan Ahead

Applications must be submitted before the educational program, course or school term begins and before any expense is paid.

The Martis Camp Foundation does not reimburse Ambassadors, students or families for educational expenses that have already been paid. Approved scholarship awards are paid directly to the educational institution, school, tutor or program, not to the applicant.

Applicants should allow at least six weeks from the applicable application deadline for review, approval and payment.

Please do not pay for or commit to an educational expense with the expectation that MCF will reimburse you.

If you have an upcoming educational expense, please plan ahead and apply during the application period that provides enough time for MCF to complete the review and payment process.

Who Can Apply?

Martis Camp Ambassadors may apply for themselves or their eligible children or legal dependents.

To be eligible, an Ambassador must:

• Be employed by Martis Camp Club or Martis Camp Community Association
• Have worked at Martis Camp for at least one year and a minimum of 700 hours as of the application deadline. Seasonal employment may be cumulative.
• Be an active Ambassador, defined as having worked at least 250 hours at Martis Camp within the previous 12 months.Remain an active employee at the time an award is paid.

If an Ambassador is applying on behalf of a child who is not their legal child, documentation of legal guardianship may be required.

There are no household income eligibility requirements and applicants are not required to submit income information, tax returns, W-2s or other financial documentation.

Scholarship Categories

Continuing Education | For Ambassadors

Covers a range of continuing education and professional development programs including but not limited to trade and specialty programs, English language courses, accredited college coursework, culinary programs and accredited online courses.

Maximum award: $3,500 per year

Tutoring | For Children and Legal Dependents of Ambassadors

Tutoring for children in grades K–12.

Maximum award: $3,500 per year

PreK–12 Education | For Children and Legal Dependents of Ambassadors

Tuition at an eligible licensed or accredited educational institution for children ages 3–18.

Maximum award: $5,000 per child per year

Students in grades 7–12 are expected to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Special consideration may be given for extenuating circumstances.

College & Graduate Education | For Ambassadors and Their Children and Legal Dependents

Tuition at an accredited two-year or four-year college or graduate school.

Maximum award: $5,000 per recipient per year

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Special consideration may be given for extenuating circumstances.

What Is Not Covered?

Scholarship funds cannot be used for:

• Expenses that have already been paid
• Travel or transportation
• Childcare or after-school care
• Extracurricular activities or sports programs
• School supplies
• Courses or programs that qualify for Martis Camp job-related educational assistance
• Other expenses determined by MCF to be outside the purpose of the program

Award Limits

Each Ambassador is subject to a $5,000 annual maximum and $30,000 lifetime maximum in Ambassador Scholarship awards. Annual award amounts are subject to available funds and approval by the MCF Scholarship Committee and MCF Board, as applicable. Receiving an award in the past does not guarantee a future award.

Applications are accepted four times each year:

April 1 | June 1 | September 1 | December 1

Applicants are generally notified within one month of the applicable deadline. Please allow at least six weeks from the application deadline for the full approval and payment process.

Example
If you need payment for a program beginning in August, you should apply by the June 1 deadline rather than waiting until the program begins.

What You Will Need to Apply

Depending on the type of award requested, applicants may need to provide:

• Information about the Ambassador and student
• School or program information
• Tuition or program costs
• Proof of enrollment or acceptance
• A personal statement describing educational goals and the purpose of the request
• Academic records, when applicable
• Information about other scholarships or financial assistance received for the same educational expense
• Other documentation necessary to verify eligibility or the educational expense

The MCF does not require household income information, tax returns, W-2s or other financial income documentation as part of the Ambassador Scholarship application.

Scholarship Payments

Approved scholarship awards are paid directly to the educational institution, school, tutor or program. The MCF does not reimburse expenses that have already been paid or issue scholarship payments directly to Ambassadors, students or families.

An official invoice, tuition statement or other documentation showing the amount due and payment information will be required before payment can be made.

Applicants are responsible for providing complete and accurate payment information and allowing sufficient time for the MCF to process the award.
